Where Coral meets Colors
I’ve been dreaming of a way to build a bridge between New York and French Polynesia.
Maybe that’s what this retreat is really about.
I grew up in French Polynesia, a country of more than 100 islands scattered across the Pacific Ocean.
Among them, one has always held a special place in my heart: Huahine.
Just twenty minutes from Bora Bora by plane, Huahine is quieter, slower, and remarkably preserved. It’s the island I return to when I need to reconnect.
For seven days, I’d like to share that place with you.
Not simply its turquoise lagoons or lush landscapes, but the rhythm of everyday life, the generosity of its people, the stories woven into its traditions, and the quiet beauty that reveals itself when you slow down.
We’ll paint together using watercolor, exploring color, light, texture, and observation. Our five studio sessions will become another way of paying attention—to plants, to objects, to places, and to the moments in between.
Beyond painting, we’ll make flower crowns, explore archaeological sites and sacred places, spend time on the lagoon, discover local traditions, and share meals and conversations together.
This retreat is an invitation to step away from routine, immerse yourself in another culture, and return home with a sketchbook filled not only with paintings, but with memories.
This retreat brings together both parts of my life — my artistic practice in New York and my roots in Polynesia — that feels deeply personal to me.
The group will be intentionally small (maximum 8 participants to the watercolor workshop) to keep the experience intimate and grounded.
Participants are welcome to bring a partner or guest who may simply want to experience the island alongside us. Sharing has always been an important part of my work and practice, and it felt natural to leave space for that possibility.
While painting sessions are reserved for 8 participants, guests are welcome to join excursions, meals, and shared moments throughout the week.
In a way, I’m bringing you home.
Haere Mai!
