Biography
Vaea Dang is a French Polynesian visual artist based in the Hudson Valley, New York. Working across drawing, hand-perforated paper, watercolor, and installation, she explores themes of memory, fragility, belonging, and the ways people connect to place.
Raised in Tahiti and now living between island roots and upstate landscapes, her practice is shaped by careful observation and a fascination with the stories carried by everyday objects, natural forms, and overlooked details. Through slow, repetitive processes, she creates works that invite viewers to pause, look closely, and reconnect with what often goes unnoticed.
Alongside her studio practice, Vaea teaches drawing and watercolor workshops, develops community-based projects, and shares the stories of artists through Inside NY Creatives. Her work has been supported by the New York St
